JoAnn Currie is a learning support specialist for our Toddler and Primary students. She joined Greensboro Montessori School with over three decades of experience as a teacher, program developer and administrator. Most recently, JoAnn served as Guilford County Schools’ program administrator for Preschool Services for Exceptional Children. In this role, she was responsible for the supervision and development of programs that provided special education and related services to children between the ages of three to five.
Prior to serving as program administrator for preschool services for exceptional children, JoAnn was a lead teacher in the same program for the city of Greensboro. She also participated in the Kendal Infant Toddler Demonstration Program as an education specialist.
JoAnn’s commitment to her community extends well beyond the classroom. She is tremendously active in the Triad serving on the board of directors for the Ragsdale YMCA, ARC of Greensboro and Guilford County Partnership for Children (where she is also the vice chair). She also participates on the birth to kindergarten community advisory boards for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the early childhood advisory board at Greensboro Technical Community College.
