Sidney Vance McGinnis joined Greensboro Montessori School as our learning support services (LSS) coordinator in 2018. Prior to joining our team, Sidney spent 10 years in special education and exceptional child classes in Guilford County Schools. During her time working with exceptional children, she served families and students with a myriad of learning and developmental disabilities and special needs. She also has experience and training in Science Research Associates (SRA)/McGraw Hill Reading Mastery, Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS), Effective Strategies for Guiding Reading, and Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP). At her immediate past school, she served on the Diversity and Social Studies Goal Team, School Improvement Team, and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Team.
Sidney graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a bachelor of science degree in special education, and she also has her North Carolina General Curriculum and Adapted Curriculum licenses. Sidney and her husband, Shawn, have a daughter in the Primary division of Greensboro Montessori School. In their free time, they enjoy attending Greensboro Grasshopper games with Sidney’s parents and brother.
