Tim Goetz is the Science faculty for Junior High and also partners with the Upper Elementary team in that role. Recently he has been the director of outreach, education and development at FaithAction International House. Tim brings extensive education and non-profit experience, as well as a passion for service in our community.
Tim taught middle school science for eight years at a local charter school. He has also been a volunteer for numerous organizations in Greensboro, including Greensboro Urban Ministry, the Interactive Resource Center, Tiny Houses, Boy Scouts, and Saint Jude’s Hospital. Prior to teaching, Tim served as the founding executive director of the Greensboro Children’s Museum. His work with nonprofits also includes time as the director of outreach, education, and development at FaithAction International House in Greensboro and community affairs manager at American Express, where he oversaw nonprofit grants, funding and volunteer opportunities.
Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in international business from The Ohio State University, and his Master of Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He also has his English as a second language (ESL) K-12 educators license. After attending Ohio State, Tim spent several years in Naples, Italy working at Casa Materna, a Methodist orphanage. He remains involved with its ongoing work. As the father of two teenagers, Tim stays busy outside of work. He also volunteers with the Boy Scouts, and enjoys bring outdoors, gardening, and caring for his backyard chickens and bees (just like he does at Greensboro Montessori School).
