The Land
Did you know Greensboro Montessori School has a 37-acre satellite campus in Oak Ridge, a place we affectionately call The Land. This wooded retreat includes a 14-bedroom retreat center, a barn, a covered bridge spanning a freshwater stream, mature hardwoods, peaceful trails, privacy and seclusion, and diverse flora and fauna. It is where our Junior High students regularly visit to apply their academic learning, build community, and reflect on their personal and academic growth.
In our 2018-19 Annual Report, we shared how we have secured the School’s future at The Land for the next 20 years through a formal lease agreement with property owner, Bill Stevens, who is also a Greensboro Montessori School alumni grandparent. While our Junior High students are at The Land every six weeks, other divisions also spend time at The Land. Our vision is to increase opportunities and connections to The Land for the entire school, which includes our prospective and current parents and families.
You are cordially invited to join us for one of two upcoming tours of The Land. We’ll meet at Greensboro Montessori School’s main campus at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and snacks to go, board one of our new buses, and head for Oak Ridge. Once there, we’ll tour the property, visit the 14-bedroom retreat center, and learn more about our curricular programming at The Land. Walking shoes are recommended!
