Performing Arts Specialist (3-year-olds to Eighth Grades)
Full-Time Position for the 2026-27 Academic School Year

Do you believe performing and musical arts can shape how students see themselves and how they move through the world? That they build confidence, communication, creativity, perseverance, and adaptability?
Greensboro Montessori School seeks a joyful, student-centered, flexible, and creative performing arts specialist to grow and lead our program. This newly expanded, full-time role builds on a strong foundation in world music and offers the opportunity to shape a cohesive performing arts experience from early childhood to Junior High.
We believe students are naturally creative, capable, and driven to do meaningful work. We see faculty as guides who empower students to develop independence, pursue excellence, and take ownership of their learning — whether in math, a microeconomy, or performance. As a faculty community, we work hard, support one another, and genuinely enjoy being here. We are seeking a teammate who is deeply student-centered, flexible in meeting student needs, and joyful in their work.
Responsibilities
This newly created, full-time performing arts position reflects an exciting expansion from our current part-time music position and underscores our commitment to deepening the performing arts while building on our strong Montessori and world music foundation. The position has four primary responsibilities:
- Teaching. Teach weekly performing and musical arts classes for Primary (early childhood), Lower Elementary (first to third grades), Upper Elementary (fourth to sixth grades), and Junior High (seventh and eighth grades). Build on a strong world music foundation while expanding into broader performing arts experiences such as movement, dramatic expression, creative play, and other forms of artistic exploration. Candidates should be comfortable as generalists, with basic proficiency across instruments and performance styles and are encouraged to bring their own passions and style to the classroom and stage. (~60%)
- Student Productions. Support and potentially direct theatrical performances in Lower and Upper Elementary, with the opportunity to develop Junior High productions. May also support additional student performances such as eighth grade speeches and other showcases. (~20%)
- Stage & Production Management. The stage doubles as the classroom and is used for other schoolwide performances, assemblies, and presentations. The performing arts specialist manages all technical and logistical aspects of the space, including our professional-grade sound and lighting systems. This role also helps elevate the sense of pageantry, quality, and excellence for all events. (~10%)
- Upper School Creative Technology (Optional). If aligned with interest and experience, support students in areas such as video production, music creation, or other forms of creative technology. (~10%)
Compensation
Compensation for this 10-month position varies with years of experience and professional degrees.
